GORY PRESENT OF A GLORIFIED PAST

Posted by [email protected] on July 16, 2014 at 5:55 AM

We have often reveled in the richness of our culture. I have ofttimes heard how special a woman is from various corners.

The poets have beautifully depicted the subtlety of her emotions. The Religion has gone a step further by personifying the earth the river etc.. as mother earth, mother river and so on. Even the goddesses, idolized, prayed, revered and respected are termed as divine mother. (Flathering though but I am not sure how the goddess may feel about it.) So, by all means the motherhoold has a privilege , pleasure and pain as the sole proprietary of a woman.

There are several other roles, As a sister, a daughter a wife, that have been exalted, praised and lauded, The role of wife is very crucial. A wife is expected to switch over to variety of roles to cater to the needs of the family. Men on the other hand were deemed protectors of women for being their mother, sister daughter wife…..(courtesy Manu)

What an ideal situation. Each taking care of the other in the best possible way.TOTAL BLISS. This was how it was supposed to be. This was how it should have been. But the present scenario catapults you to a slaughterous reality. You wake up with a rude shock. Everything, the so called culture professed for us was a fraud of its ultimate kind. The society had chiseled, cheated and deliberately tricked the ladies under the intentional deceitful pretences.

The whole of Benaras and Mathura is a witness to the plight of the widows.

Sri Ram deserted his wife despite an agni pariksha. But why an agni Pariksha at all…is a debatable topic.

Lord Krishna had 16000 gopis, why at all…

The emotions of Draupadi were mocked by offering her as an object to the five brothers.

Kunti’s chastity were put to humiliation by depicting her as a virgin mother.

Every story, every incidence has been loud and clear in its message. Women folk has been betrayed always.

It is high time we create a status, place for ourselves. Its high time we treat ourselves as HUMANS.
